91st National Annual Reunion

0ur 91st National Annual Reunion and meeting of the Willard Family Association of America will be held on Friday, July 30, and Saturday, July 31. For those arriving on Friday or earlier (there is much to see and do in this area), we recommend the Boston Marriott Westborough Hotel. This will be our headquarters for the weekend and the location of our Friday night dinner.

Our guest speaker on that occasion will be John R. Stephens, Curator of the Willard House and Clock Museum. Saturday morning, we will gather at the Evangelical Congregational Church in Grafton Center for our Annual Meeting. Heidi Williams, Secretary of the Church, has been very helpful with arrangements. After the business meeting a church member will speak to us about Grafton and the history of this church, which has two Willard clocks. We will then have an opportunity to tour the church. Next Ñ we will go across the Grafton Common to the Grafton Inn where lunch will be ~ an excellent buffet. From the Grafton Inn we will travel to North Grafton, (just down the road a piece) for a wonderful and informative time and tour of the Willard House and Clock Museum. Curator John R. Stephens, Assistant Curator Cynthia Dias-Reid, and Friends of the Willard House are anxious to provide us with a very special Museum Tour of the birthplace and original clockshop of America's 18th century clockmaking family: Benjamin, Simon, Ephraim, and Aaron Willard. The Museum's collection includes 75 Willard clocks, family furnishings and portraits, Indian artifacts, period costumes, 18th & 19th century firearms, Oriental rugs, and antique toys and dolls, all displayed in period room settings. Of special interest is the Willard Family Association quilt, hanging for all visitors to enjoy. After the tour of the Willard House and Clock Museum, we will visit the Old Oak Street Burial Ground. This Burial Ground is the oldest recorded area of Grafton's several historic sites ~ the bounds for this burial ground were drawn up between November 26, 1734 and January 28, 1735 by a committee. Joseph Willard was one of the three original members of this committee and was later buried here.

Please join us for the Reunion and Annual Meeting. We look forward to seeing you, and it will be a weekend you will enjoy.
